Conveniently located along major highway and rail lines such as Pulaski Highway (US40), Interstate 95, and the MARC Rail Line, Edgewood also has the advantage of being conveniently located just north of the Baltimore metropolitan area and within short driving distance to Washington D.C., the nation’s capital and Philadelphia.  Situated in the southwestern corner of Harford County, Edgewood is convenient to all that Harford County has to offer.  A close proximity to the Bush and Gunpowder Rivers with quick access to the Chesapeake Bay to the rolling byways in the hills of the Piedmont Region provides residents with a myriad of recreational and cultural opportunities.

Founded as a farming community in the mid 1800’s along the rail line from Baltimore to Philadelphia, Edgewood grew quietly until the formation of Aberdeen Proving Ground (Edgewood Arsenal) in 1917.  With the arrival of the United States Government, neighborhoods were developed, roads were built, and industry and business moved in.  The community has continued to grow through the latter part of the century as shopping centers and large developments were built. 

Our community, at the beginning of 21st century, is now ideally situated for even more dramatic growth.  Extensive planned changes at Aberdeen Proving Ground will set the ball rolling for dramatic new residential, commercial, and industrial growth.  Its citizens are working together to ensure the changes work and the growth benefits all.  The community is served by the Edgewood Community Council, a group of concerned citizens investing their time and talent to improve the community and its standing in Harford County.
